Gamepad Profile
Hello All,
I remember a post a long time ago asking about using a gamepad with GuildWars. GuildWars doesn't seem to support mapping to external controllers, so you will need 3rd party mapping software to get this to work. I am using a Logitech DualAction Rumplepad 2, which comes with a WingMan Profile software package. It works by making the control pad buttons map to certain keys on the keyboard. You can save the keymaps on a game to game basis in profiles. I've done some experiementing, and I've come up with a control scheme that seems to work fairly well. I can't really reccomend using a controller if you usually type to communicate, but if you use TeamSpeak or some other such program, this works beautifully:
Keyboard Setup
Forward: W
Back: S
Strafe left: A
Strafe Right: D
Turn Left: Q
Turn Right: E
Zoom In: I
Zoom Out: K
Skills 1-8: 1-8
Target Next Foe: Tab
Target Next Ally: B
Target Self: F
Target Next Item: ;
Perform Action: Space
I have included the saved profile for anyone interested.

How does the system your talking about differ from the macro on the LogitechG15 keyboard which Anet wont allow, or is this now down to interpretation of Macro, and the EULA?

I've actually had far better luck with an alternative numeric pad and the mouse. Basically if you need to *quickly* target and ally that needs a heal, going with a gaming pad just isn't good enough. But, you can reprogram most gaming pads to keyboard equiv's.

I wasn't aware of a situation with the G15. And I have read through the legal section of the website (http://www.guildwars.com/support/legal/), and I've found nothing mentioning something against what I'm suggesting. I have proposed nothing more than a key-map. A macro is designed to perform multiple commands using only one keystroke. This is simply a re-map of single keys to another device. There is no turbo function or auto-heal, or anything else of that nature. The description of the keybaord itself says:

What I'm suggesting is no different than using the Zboard. Or a mouse with extra buttons. Or anything else of that sort. It's just alternate buttons, each doing only one command. If you opened notepad and used this control scheme, you would see an output similar to: wasdefbv;12345678ikqe if you pressed each of the buttons. A macros would have an output that looks like: 1234 for only one button.
Please show me what part of the EULA you are talking about. I wasn't aware that this was an issue at all.

I can see how it wouldn't cut the mustard when it comes to playing a healer, or during PvP. For general PvE, however, it's jsut kinda fun. It maybe me, but it makes the game feel a bit more action-oriented.

Use your gamepad in windows!
For anyone interested, I figured out how to use the pad in windows in place of your mouse. (Bored IT worker )
The right and left sticks can control mouse movement, the d-pad is the same as the arrow keys on the keyboard, and the face buttons are:
1: Right mouse button
2: Left mouse button
3: Middle mouse button
4: Enter key
Set the profile as your Persistant profile, so that it is always active in all programs. It is programed for C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe

Sorry, Button 9 (SELECT) is the shift button. I inverted the clicks because when you move the cursor with the right stick, you can push down for the left click. Also, you can hold down the right stick while you move the left stick to change your perspective. It just seemed logical to me, and felt right.
